Bruichladdich Distillery was founded in 1881 and it is situated on the western shore of Lochindaal. The name in Gaelic means ‘Hill on the shore’. Sadly it was closed down for a number of years in 1994, in 2000 it was resurrected and raring to go. It calls itself a Victorian distillery re imagined for the future.
