Otranto Blue Boy

£70.00

Giclée print on Hahnemuhle fine art paper.

Image size: 38.5cm x 49.5cm

In 2018 WW100 and the people of Islay helped commemorate the tragic sinking of the SS Tuscania on 5th February followed by HMS Otranto on the 6th October towards the end of the First World War 1918.

The Museum of Islay Life kindly gave us access to their archives and many hours were spent reading the harrowing accounts of survivors and of the men and women of Islay who helped with the recovery of victims and the trauma it must have caused. It was a real challenge to create something worthy of the loss of life and the sorrow that came from it.
